New Delhi: A six day course "Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS)" is being conducted at JPN Trauma Centre of the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) from today itself.
The course is conducted in association with the American College of Surgeons.
Dr Amit Gupta of JPN Apex Trauma Centre said, "ATLS has already been taught in over 50 countries."
The ATLS course is being organised for the first time in the country under the supervision of Dr MC Misra, Chief of the AIIMS Trauma Centre.
Doctors trained in the course will be certified by the American College of Surgeons.
Financial assistance for the course is being offered by the Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry. The ATLS is a copyright course of the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma.
The course addresses all the critical fields in which we need to improve and train the health professionals in organising the care for multiple injured patient within the hospital. It also lays down protocols to initially manage critically injured poly-trauma patients.
