Jamshedpur: British Council in association with Cape Farewell and Tata Jagriti Yatra will present a photography exhibition of the Cape Farewell Arctic Expedition at the Russi Modi Centre for Excellence, Jamshedpur on January 5.
Sanjay Wadvani, British deputy high commissioner to east India, Sujata Sen, British Council, director, east India and Subathra Subramanian, Cape Farewell representative from South Bank Centre, UK, will talk about the exhibition. The one-day photography exhibition will be open from 9 am to 5 pm.
British Council international climate champions Dhruv Sengar and KN Shruti, who have been part of the expedition, will talk about their experiences. A brief theatre piece based on the Jagriti Yatra and issues around climate change will also be performed by the climate champions and Yatris. A film will be screened on the occasion.
The exhibition is a series of photographs taken of and by the voyagers of the Cape Farewell Expedition 2008. The Cape Farewell Expedition takes scientists, artists and communicators to the Arctic to experience first hand the effects of climate change.
The photo exhibition displays the beauty of the arctic landscape and the effect on it because of climate change, while simultaneously some images also bring to life the experiences of the voyagers from the expedition.
The exhibition is a part of the Tata Jagriti Yatra 2009 (www.Jagritiyatra.com). The yatra is an annual train journey that takes hundreds of India's highly motivated youth across the country to encourage an entrepreneurial spirit in them.
