IGNOU collaborates with ISRO

IGNOU has initiated steps to promote excellence in research, applications and satellite communications for education. It has set up a Chair on Satellite Communication Education in collaboration with the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).

Explaining that satellite communications will play a critical role in the growth of open and distance learning system in the country, Prof. Pillai said that the thrust of the Chair will be to define national level programmes that will play a role in improving access and quality of education at all levels.

Research

The Chair will undertake research and educational activities in the area of application of satellite communication for education. A team consisting of faculty, research scholars and experts drawn from the area of space technology, education and other relevant areas will assist the Chair in its activities.
