Candidates complained of major printing errors while appearing for the examination. The NET candidates have to appear for three papers in a day and almost half of the second paper and nearly 40% of the third was incomprehensible.
"I am anxious for the results as negative marking has been introduced in the system from this year itself and we were supposed to attempt all the questions," said Pooja Mishra, an M.Phil. student of Russian Literature in Delhi University.
The first paper is based on teaching and research aptitude, which is to be taken by all candidates. Papers II (objective) and III (subjective) are about the subject.
According to the candidates, the first paper had no printing errors. They claimed that the UGC officials at the venue could not clarify whether marks would be awarded for the illegible questions.
"We could not understand the question paper and in protest we even tried to walk out, but the UGC officials did not allow us to walk out saying that we have to be in the hall for the stipulated time period of at least one hour. They did not even give us extra time to answer the illegible questions," Mishra said.
Now, some student organisations and the candidates are planning a protest outside the UGC office on Tuesday.
