Bangalore University has joined hands with 12 premier national research institutes to establish an Institute of Excellence in Science and Biotechnology on the Bangalore University campus.
According to a press statement issued by University Vice-Chancellor Prabhu Dev, representatives of the consortium have agreed to pool infrastructure and faculty and participate in the various academic programmes to be started with the launch of BS course in Bangalore University. “All the members of the consortium agreed to the idea of starting a Central Instrumentation Facility on the varsity campus with state-of-the-art equipment,” Dr. Prabhu Dev said.
The Central Instrumentation Facility, which is proposed to be started at a cost of Rs. 20 crore, will be provided electron microscope, DNA sequencer, NMR spectrometer, atomic force microscope and equipment for astrophysics and aerospace.
