What is the purpose of your visit to India?
We are in India to deepen our relationship with a number of key institutions. We have active partnerships with academic institutions and industry here.
What are your new initiatives or plans as far as India is concerned?
On this visit we signed an MoU for student and faculty exchange with IMT Ghaziabad under which we will have students from the UK studying for periods of time at IMT and vice versa. We are also signing an MoU in science, biosciences and bio-technology with Apeejay Education Society to run joint programmes in these areas in India.
Any new courses coming up this academic session in your university/institute?
We have new MBAs running in London focusing on India — these are the MBA in International Business in India and the MBA in Information Technology Management. Students can study part of the programmes in India.
Any specific reasons for attracting international students to your university/institute?
We are a very international university with international students and faculty. We want to prepare our students to work in an increasingly globalised and interconnected world. The main way universities can do this is through deep partnerships with other important countries such as India. We have over 4000 international students a year at Greenwich and over 1200 Indian students.
What about placements in this recessionary market?
We teach our students employability in all the courses we run and our placement record is very good.
