The CIBT Education Group Inc., a conglomerate that runs business, technical and language colleges Australia, Canada, China, Jamaica, New Zealand, Holland, South Korea, the US, the UK and Vietnam has signed an agreement with the Canada-based Sprott Shaw group to lend its name for new insititutions in India.

The Sprott-Shaw group, a global post secondary institution with 22 campuses, has been chosen as a partner as it already has a presence in India, reports IANS.

A statement by the CIBT Group said that under the agreement it will license the brand ‘CIBT School of Business’ to be opened in many states in India. This will enable Sprott Shaw to establish several business, vocational and language training schools at select campuses in India, market the programme and recruit students from India to Canada. It will also “establish credit transfer programmes among India and other CIBT and Sprott-Shaw partner campuses worldwide”.

Said CIBT Group President and CEO Toby Chu, “We are very pleased with this latest licensing arrangement as part of our global expansion strategy to increase our economies of scale, expand our network, and extend our outreach to emerging economies around the world. A global distribution network enables us to export our Western education content to overseas campuses while attracting international students to study at our domestic campuses to gain experience learning abroad.”

The CIBT Group offers Western and Chinese accredited business and management degree programmes, IT programmes, travel and tourism programmes and career/vocational courses through its network of campuses and academic partnerships around the world.
