150 Radcliffe schools to be set up in India

A Delhi-based educational trust proposed to set up 150 schools across the country in the next five years with a Rs. 300 crore investment, of which seven, including one here, would come up in the first phase.

Targeting the Tier II cities, the foundation was in the process of setting up campuses in Mumbai, Bangalore, Bhopal, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Kochi and Raipur with a Rs 10 crore investment, Radcliffe Foundationâ€™s Managing Trustee Nymph Kaul said.

In the second phase, cities such as Bhatinda, Jaipur and Siliguri, could be considered, she said adding that in Kerala there were plans to start schools in Thiruvananthapuram, Kozhikode and Kottayam.

All schools would have the same curriculum, similar teaching and learning methods and infrastructure and learning of local language would also be given importance, Ms. Kaul said.

Radcliffe has set up its Kochi campus on a 2.5 acre leased land at nearby Thopumpady. The fees from kindergarten to Class V would be Rs. 2,500 a month which was inclusive of school textbooks, besides a one-time admission fee of Rs. 25,000 for all classes. In the case of transfers to any other city, the student would not have to pay a fresh admission fee, she said.
