Kolkata: IIM-Kozhikode director Debashis Chatterjee has not ruled out the possibility of a CAT retest, which becomes apparent from the fact that a lot of students from Kolkata and elsewhere in the country have not been given a rescheduled date for taking the online CAT.
The CAT committee will analyse the emails from students, the calls made to the hotline number and also the video footage from each examination centre and table a comprehensive report at the CAT meeting on December 13.
“It all depends on the gravity of the problem. If the number of examinees who suffered is large enough, we will have to scrap the online test and conduct a fresh one. Else we may identify individual students and if they add up to a comparatively small number, we could arrange for a second test only for them. Whatever the decision, we will ensure a fair test for the students, the IIM-Kozhikode director said.
IIM-Lucknow director Devi Singh echoed the views of Chatterjee and said that the IIMs have to live up to the expectations of students over a fair, error-free CAT. would only add that the CAT committee should also consider the case of those who have taken the online tests without a snag. Some of them are also satisfied, said Singh.
CAT convener Satish Deodhar endorsed the view. We are exploring all possible ways to restore confidence of the students in the CAT system.
