New Delhi: Leeds Metropolitan University in Britain plans to offer its courses and degrees at a newly developed campus in Bhopal.
In collaboration with Jagran Social Welfare Society, the Leeds university is planning offer UG degrees in the fields of business management, retail marketing, international hospitality management and event management.
The entire academic front would be controlled by Leeds Metropolitan University, while the facilities and day-to-day management of the programmes would be taken care by Jargon Society.
The Society has applied for approval to run these courses to the All-India Council for Technical Education.
The first batch would start functioning in September this year and sooner by 2010 the institution plans to offer post-graduate courses like MBA and M.Sc. in various disciplines.
The institution encompasses in a residential campus with a state-of-the-art library that will be connected to the library of the Leeds Metropolitan University in UK. It would have Wi-Fi connections, a recreation and fitness centre in a hostel that can accommodate 200 students.
The course cost in India, Bhopal is likely to be 30% (excluding the hostel facilities) of the cost incurred in UK. The campus is 75 per cent ready and will be completed by July. The first batch will have 160 students.
