Chennai: TNPSC aspirants annoyed as Group I exams falls on religious festival day Easter, 12 April
Candidates have urged the TNPSC to postpone the examination date, which has been scheduled on 12 April. However, there is no official communication has received from TNPSC regarding this confusion.
Employees and Officials of TNPSC also unable make their presence on festival day. They have reported their inconvenience to higher authorities.
As Easter always falls on a Sunday, the G.O. mentioning holidays of the State government generally does not list Easter as a public holiday.
Chancellor of Madras-Mylapore Archdiocese Fr.Charles Kumar said 'Easter is an important festival for all Christians. It celebrates Resurrection, which is the foundation and fulcrum of Christian faith. So it is necessary for people to have a public holiday in order to experience the spirit of Easter.' TNPSC officials claim the commission usually takes a decision based on the list of holidays provided by the State government.
