Kolkata: In a a number of partnerships between Indian universities and those abroad, another one to rule the roost came with the launch Queens India Schools Project (QUISP).
The project, a partnership initiative between Queen's University Belfast and a host of Indian schools including six schools from Kolkata, was launched on November 18. The aim of the initiative will be to foster a two-way sharing of knowledge and skills as well as to improve the youth connectivity between the two nations.
Peter Gregson, president and vice chancellor, Queen's University of Belfast, UK, said, This initiatives main aims are facilitating faculty and student exchanges, with a two-way learning experience, especially on burning issues like climate change and global warming, as well as celebrating our successful partnership with the Bengal Engineering and Science University (BESU), on projects to provide for arsenic free drinking water in districts of Bengal.'
Among the Kolkatan schools that are part of the partnership are Don Bosco Park Circus, Lakshmipat Singhania Academy, La Martiniere for Boys, Calcutta International School and Modern High School. Speaking of the partnership, Gregson said, 'We have a limited number of places for the students as exceptional quality will be the sole criterion. Being high quality partnerships, we aim at creating good ambassadors. Indian students have a very strong theoretical basis and are very well-equipped for all our equipped programmes.
