Bhubaneswar: The third Foundation Day lecture of KIIT School of Rural Management, a constituent of KIIT University, will be delivered by Dr Robert S Zeigler, director general, International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), Manila on November 20 on the premises of the university.
He will speak on ‘Eastern India in the Midst of Global Food Security’.
Dr Zeigler and Dr A Samanta, founder, KIIT, will also sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on behalf of IRRI and KIIT University respectively to promote collaborative research work in improving the rice production and marketing system in India and neighbouring countries.
They will also release ‘Kaleidoscope’, a KSRM publication which contains applied research work done by KSRM students during 2007 - 09. The KSRM students will host a cultural programme in honour of Dr Zeigler.
Dr Zeigler is an internationally respected plant pathologist with more than 30 years of experience in agricultural research in the developing world. He was named DG of International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) in 2005.
