Kolkata: BESU has plans for a Rs 20-crore green technology park in Shibpur which will run on alternative energy.
The university has proposed a 100-acre tech park during a recent meet between BESU vice-chancellor Ajoy Kumar Ray and HRD minister Kapil Sibal.
If approved, centre will employ a multi-disciplinary approach to green energy research. Courses offered will include M Tech courses and short-term training courses.
The centre will focus on research in renewable energy and IT firms are expected to help. The university will also build green buildings on part with international standards.
