New Delhi: Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) shall establish training centers at 400 locations in the Bihar state. These will be equipped with computer labs to provide distance education through information technology to the remotest parts of the State. In addiditon to this, it is estimated that during the year 2009-10, 25,000 government officials shall be trained by IGNOU.
Recently, the Government of Bihar signed an MoU for implementation of state sponsored projects with IGNOU,called 'Samarth'\', a first of its kind endeavour in the country. Under Samarth , IGNOU has been chosen as the Knowledge Partner of the Bihar state.
This Project is an integration of IGNOU's academic excellence and delivery of market driven vocational courses , for the youth of Bihar. These programmes will not only enable them become competitively skilled, on par with the workforce of other states, but also help Bihar to significantly improve its Human Development Index. This Project has been unanimously approved by the Board of Management (BOM) of the University.
IGNOU has been successfully imparting Diplomas in Primary Training to thousands of Primary School Teachers working with the Bihar Government. The Government is very keen on professionally training their employed teachers since the State is implementing various national and state level school education schemes in a big way, to improve the delivery of education, both at the primary as well as the secondary levels.
