Chennai: Private schools opposing the uniform school education system have threatened to approach the court to stop the state government from implementing the system.
The Tamil Nadu Nursery, Primary and Matriculation Schools Association held a demonstration here on Friday to draw the attention of the government to the issue. 'We have expressed our concern. The government should speak to us. If it does not, then we will stop the government (from implementing the system) through the court,’ said association president Dr Muthiah Sakthi.
Sakthi also pointed out to the fact that when the state government tried to introduce Tamil as the medium of instruction in schools, the courts stopped it.
The association believes the uniform school education system would destroy the private schools and force them to use only Tamil as the medium of instruction. The association said that private schools were delivering quality education and should be left undisturbed.
