Kolkata: The special training programme on ‘Educational Leadership Skills’ for the heads of schools affiliated to CISCE that is being conducted from October 26 – 30, 2009 by the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta at its Management Centre for Human Values was inaugurated by Neil O’Brien, the Chairman of Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) this morning. O’Brien inaugurated the programme in the presence of joint programme directors, Professor Panduranga C Bhatta and Professor Ranjan Mitter.
Programme objectives:

To sensitise the participants to the purpose of education, the notion of excellence in education, its instrumentalities besides enhancing their competencies to effectively address the challenges of the 21st century.

To learn the art of stimulating a positive work culture through leadership qualities and skills and to explore leadership and managerial dimensions that are responsible, responsive, result-oriented, stakeholder centric, inclusive, innovative, change and growth oriented.

To acquaint the participants with the changing role of educational leadership in the context of globalisation besides helping them in appreciating the place of values and culture in the present educational system for identifying options and evolving choices.

To identify key issues, challenges and opportunities to enhance the quality, motivation and commitment of teachers in the teaching-learning process in pursuit of excellence and to facilitate an exciting work ambience and work culture at the physical, social, emotional and intellectual levels.
