Chennai: Padippaga Chemmal K. Ganapathy Government Higher Secondary School at Kodambakkam, Chennai, has been selected for implementing Dell's smart classroom facilities like three-dimension video and audio facilities are used for imparting knowledge.
Selected by the Centre where one government school has been chosen to implement the smart classroom concept, this school in Chennai is one among other schools of five cities Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Mohali and New Delhi.
The Director of school education (DSE), Dr P. Perumalsamy, said in the past it was only students from elite, private schools who had the privilege to learn with modern IT tools but today government school students also got a chance to learn using the same technology.
"This project is done as part of Dell's youth connect with Learning links foundation, an NGO," he said.
The headmaster of the school, Mr T. Kalyanasudaram said Dell had donated 15 computers with two servers and an interactive digital board worth about Rs 20 lakh with which teachers can teach science and mathematics, with visual conceptualisation.
"We are able to witness a change in students' attitude in studying maths and science; they readily come to class nowadays," he said.
Anand, a Class-VII student of the school, said it was a different learning experience seeing the human heart working in three-dimension that they had never seen before.
