Regulatory body to be set up
The Rajasthan Government has announced the setting up of a regulatory body like the AICTE to put some controls on the working of private universities in the state. “The step has been taken to put a check on the falling standards of education in private institutes,” said a government official.
CDSE exam to be conducted by UPSC
The UPSC will conduct the Combined Defence Services (I) Examination 2010 on February 14, 2010 for admission to the Indian Military Academy (IMA), Naval Academy and Air Force Academy for courses commencing in January 2011 and Officers Training Academy, Chennai for the courses (men and women) commencing in April 2011. Candidates must apply in the Common Application Form devised by the Commission for its exams, which can be purchased from the designated head post offices/post offices throughout the country.
Delhi to have a public health varsity
Delhi will have public health varsity and an Indian Institute of Public Health (IIPH) to provide a trained health workforce, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit said after donating 51 acres of land for the two institutes. The institutes will be built by the Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI), a public-private partnership between the central government, the Delhi government and private players. The university will link several institutes of public health which the foundation proposes to establish in various regions.
