jeemain The JEE (Joint Entrance Examination) (Main) 2016 exam was conducted today, on April 9, 2016, at different centers in 132 cities across the country and abroad. A total number of 12.07 lacs candidates have registered for the same including the offline and online exam.

Paper description

In total, JEE (Joint Entrance Examination) (Main) 2016 exam contains 90 questions from physics, chemistry & mathematics and were divided into three parts -- A, B, C with 30 questions in each part. Each question was of four marks
1/4 marks of total marks per question would be deducted in case of an incorrect answer, whereas no deduction will be made if the question is left un-attempted
The students were asked to use a ball pen provided by the board for rough work. Also, two sheets of rough paper were being provided to the students during the begining of the JEE (Joint Entrance Examination) (Main) 2016 exam. They were permitted to ask for additional sheets (if needed).
Students' reaction

It was a balanced and moderate level paper. Order of difficulty level in paper can further be defined as moderate level in maths while easy in chemistry and physics. As compared with the paper held on April 3, physics was not that tough and maths and chemistry were of similar level.
Some reported that mathematics seemed to be lengthy but not tough.
There was at least one question from each of the chapters in physics, chemistry and mathematics.
Other observations

The students were not allowed to carry a copy of their question paper after the exam
There was no set number of question paper unlike the offline exam
The students were allowed to ask for additional rough sheets
Pencil box/stationery/wrist watch/mobile was not allowed inside the test center
No major errors in question paper have been reported till now, some students have reportedly said "there was one question in maths with no option matching(this is yet to be ascertained).
Recently, the HRD Ministry officials said that decision has been taken that Class 12 marks will not be a factor for determining rankings in the JEE (Joint Entrance Examination) (Main) 2016 exam for admissions in engineering undergraduate courses from next year onwards
