Indian Institute of Management- Ahmedabad (IIMA) to increase the fee for its two year PGPM - Announced on March 23

iima In the rise of high competition by various B-schools, the Indian Institute of Management- Ahmedabad (IIM-A) on March 23 announced one lakh increase in the fee for its flagship course, two-year Post-Graduate Programme in Management (PGPM). The fee amount will be chargeable from 2016-2018 batches.

"The IIMA Board has approved the increase of fees for its two-year PGPM. The amount is a cumulative fee for both years, including tuition, academic support, accommodation, basic health care, medical insurance, and alumni association membership fee," according to a press release.

The institute proclaimed that the increase is entailed as the institute's costs have been rising in step with inflation. "Taking 2009 as the base, even with the proposed increase, 2016-18 fees would be 10 percent lower in inflation-adjusted terms compared to 2009-11 fees. Although we continue to drive for efficiency, part of the cost increase is reflected in fee increase," the institute added.

Further in a report, the IIMA Director Ashish Nanda said, "Committed to continue offering deserving students the most generous scholarship scheme among management schools in India. For 2016-17, financial aid is being offered to 251 PGP and PGP-FABM students, which is 29 percent of the total student strength."

The two-year post-graduate programme in management is a full-time residential course for the graduates from all the disciplines, wishing to choose a career in management. The selection of the candidates for admissions to the 2016-2018 batch of the PGP at IIMA is a two step process. In the first step, candidates who have a valid CAT 2015 score card will be called for preliminary screening followed by an academic written test and personal interview.

The final selection will be based on the ranks of the candidates computed separately for each category on the basis of their 'Final Composite Scores' (FCS). The numbers selected in different categories will be in proportions mandated by law.
