pget All three top ranks in the PGET 2016-17 were bagged by students from Karnataka. In the test conducted by the Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka's (ComedK) in January 2016, four of the top ten rank holders are from Karnataka.
In PGET (dental), the first three ranks went to students from other states. Of the first 10 rank holders in dentistry , three are from Karnataka.
The results of this national entrance test, which is a gateway to postgraduate medical and dental courses in private colleges in Karnataka, were out on Thursday.

The first rank in PGET (dental) went to Rachel Alt hea Sequeira from Goa.
Of the first 1000 rank holders in PGET medical, 212 are from Karnatakaa and in PGET dental, 117 students are from Karnataka.

For PGET (medical), 1,65, 777 students took the test and for dental 4,462 students appeared with 50% and 44% students qualifying respectively in ComedK's medical and dental tests. AS Srikanth, chief execu tive, ComedK, said the quantum of fees and counselling dates would be notified soon and a separate set of counselling documents detailing the procedure of participating in the ComedK counselling would be made available shortly.

Candidates are required to refer to ComedK's website regularly for all the updates, he added. The PGET was held on January 17 at 141 centres in 72 countries across the country.

How they made it
Rachel Althea Sequeira, 24, an MBBS student of Kasturba Medical College, Mangaluru, secured first rank in PGET (medical) and also 42nd rank in the entrance test to AIIMS, New Delhi. "I want to pursue General Medicine but I'll shortlist my colleges once the results of other entrance tests are out and counselling be gins. My mother was extremely supportive and I realized she was really good at inspiring me to study hard."

Siddharth Datta Bandodkar, 23, a dental graduate from Goa Medical College, secured first rank in PGET dental and fifth in the All-India PG Dental Exam and 14th rank in the test for All-India Institute of Medical Sciences.

Siddharth said, "I was a bit taken aback by the results; I achieved this because of hard work. After completing my dentistry and internship from Goa Dental College, I moved to Davanagere for a year of coaching under Dr Raison Thomas for the AllIndia Post-Graduate exams.On an average, I put in about 10 hours of studying every day and divided my time equally between reading new subjects, revising and solving old entrance papers.I want to pursue prosthodontics in the best dental college but it all depends on counselling. I'm hoping for the best."
