The Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) has partnered with IT major Wipro for boosting research initiatives as part of its doctoral programmes.
Following the tie-up, the company will support the Wipro Sustainability Fellowship and the Wipro Sustainability Grant for doctoral students at the institute. Both grants allow up to two FPM students each to be funded, to support research interests that fall in the broad area of sustainability, says a press statement.
“We are delighted to partner with IIMB in a joint effort to foster doctoral research on areas that lie at the intersection of business and sustainability. The business sector has a critical role to play in facing the manifold challenges of sustainability. Therefore, embedding sustainability in management education has become a critical imperative,” says PS Narayan, vice president and head-sustainability, Wipro Limited.
The fellow programme in management carries out meticulous and inter-disciplinary research in all areas of business management and public policy, including corporate strategy and policy, economics and social sciences, finance and control, marketing, organisational behaviour and human resource management, production and operations management, quantitative methods and information systems, and public policy. “This (the partnership) will provide an impetus to students’ research in the area of sustainability,” says Professor Shashidhar Murthy, FPM chairperson, IIMB.
