The Jammu and Kashmir government has introduced the 'free winter classes' scheme to help students prepare for medical and engineering examinations. According to PTI reports, the Chief Minister's Super-50 Free Winter Tutorial scheme was launched by the Education Minister, Naeem Akhtar and Roads and Buildings Minister, Altaf Bukhari at Government Girls High School, Hyderpora.
Under this plan, the Department of Education (DOE) will be providing free coaching for medical and engineering entrance exams, both, at the state and national level
The DOE will also provide free coaching with the state-of-art facilities like central heating system and free Wi-Fi to Class 10 and 12 students
This scheme is to prepare an environment for transforming the education system
The DOE will also celebrate 2016 as 'Year of Expression' that will provide different language courses as value addition to academic qualification of students. Talking about the initiative, Akhtar said, "In our hearts, we know that we are not politicking for headlines or vote-bank, but to secure the future of our coming generations," he said.
Terming the ongoing reforms in the education department as 'people's movement', the Minister applauded Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed for his visionary approach and devout efforts, aimed at securing the future of Jammu and Kashmir. "Mufti Sahab stood by me like a rock when we started reforming the redundant education system in the state. It is his dream to remove the restlessness in our hearts and minds, and to revive the glorious academic culture in J-K which has left imprints across the globe," he said.
