Amid the Chennai rains that has put the city on a stand still, the tamilnadu government has issued a clarification that the order to postpone the half-yearly examinations is applicabe to all the government, aided and private schools. "It seems some private schools consider that it does not apply to them. Postponing of exams applies to all government, aided and private schools . I have directed the School Education Department to issue a circular to all schools in this regard," she said in a statement.
According to PTI reports, some private schools had considered that the tamilnadu government's decision of postponing the half-yearly exams did not apply to them. However, Chief Minister, Jayalalitha made it clear that her directive covered all kinds of educational institutions. Earlier, Jayalalitha had issued a statement asking to reschedule all the half-yearly examinations of all state board schools that were to be held from December 7. The order is also applicable to schools in areas that are not affected by rains.
Meanwhile, many universities in tamilnadu have also postponed examinations due to flood conditions in Chennai. The paper based Management Aptitude Test (MAT) which was to be held on December 6 was cancelled at its Chennai centre. The examination has been rescheduled to February 7, 2016. The computer based test at the Chennai centre has been rescheduled to February 13. University of Madras, Anna University, Pondicherry University and others have also postponed their examinations. The new dates will be announced later.
