The Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Main 2016 is scheduled to be conducted on April 3, 2016 (offline) and April 9 and 10, 2016 (online). Earlier only two attempts were allowed to clear the exam, but now according to the new official notification, the number of attempts have been increased to three.The registration for JEE Main 2016 began on December 1 and will be ending on December 31. The states of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Uttrakhand, Nagaland and Odisha have joined JEE (Main) system. Therefore, the candidates seeking admission to the institutions in these states, which were earlier admitting students based on their State l level examination, are also advised to fill in the JEE (Main) 2016 application form online.
Examination pattern
JEE is bifurcated into two parts: Main and Advanced. JEE (Main) is held for admissions to IIITs (Indian Institutes of Information Technology), NITs (National Institutes of Technology), CFTIs (Central Funded Technical Institute) and IIEST Shibpur (dual degree programme).
JEE Advanced, on the other hand, is for admissions to Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), and Indian School of Mines Dhanbad (to be converted into IIT). JEE Advanced is the second stage of examination for admissions to Indian Institutes of Technology, conducted by seven zonal IITs under Joint Admission Board.
