Kolkata: Students who are not satisfied with their Higher Secondary (HS) marks will get a chance to re-sit for select subjects or have their answer papers re-evaluated.

The West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) has introduced a system known as Grade Improvement Programme (GIP).

Candidates will be allowed to re-take the exam in 2 subjects in the following year’s HS exams. They will have to accept the results of this exam even if they are worse than the original.

The council will also introduce a review system for those who do not want to retake their exam but want their answer paper re-evaluated.

Authorities from WBCHSE said they were aware that the student would be in their first year of college while re-taking the exam but stated that it would help the student in competitive exams.

Details of the programme such as criteria required to sit for the exam again are under discussion.
