US-based ecommerce firm, Amazon, was the biggest recruiter among Cluster 2 companies during summer placements for the 2017 batch of Post-Graduate Programme (PGP) in management at the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, on Sunday. More than 40 firms participated in the second cluster comprising 5 cohorts: consumer goods and services; general management; consulting; pharmaceuticals; and technology .
Amazon made 18 offers to IIM Ahmedabad, followed by Aditya Birla Group which made 17. Airtel followed with 9 offers; Tata Administrative Services and Mahindra & Mahindra with 8 each; HUL, Novartis and Johnson & Johnson 6 each, Mondelez 5; and P&G and Dr Reddy's with 4 each in various posts.
Consumer goods and services recruiter included regular recruiter like Airtel, HUL, Mondelez, P&G, Reckitt Benckiser, Star TV , Vodafone and Wipro among others. The general management cohort saw a large number of offers.
"IIM Ahmedabad has been the preferred campus for the Aditya Birla Group," said Dr Santrupt Misra, CEO, carbon black business and director, Group HR. "This year, we hired 17 students for our leadership programme designed to build the next generation of leaders for the group."
Third cluster recruitments on November 4 in IIM Ahmedabad will be largely represented by the internet and e-commerce cohort which offers jobs in finance, product management, strategy and operations, among others. Cluster 4 placements will be held on November 6.
In Cluster 1, Boston Consulting Group (BCG) emerged as the top recruiter with 19 offers, followed by Goldman Sachs with 11 and Bank of America Merrill Lynch with 6. Last year, more than 110 companies had visited IIM Ahmedabad in three clusters of the placement drive and BCG was the top recruiter with 16 offers.
