The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced an expression series of programme on Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, this time on October 31. Taking forward the series programme, the board has decided to remember the contribution of Sardar Patel for his contributions as a leader who unified the whole country.
"The history of India would have been different had Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel not been the Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister when India became independent in 1947. Sardar Patel consolidated the country into one united whole in a unique manner. On his birth anniversary, the Central Board of Secondary Education announces CBSE Expression Series on Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on 31 October 2015. ," the circular issued by D T Sudharsan Rao, CBSE joint secretary and in-charge (academic and training) said.
Through this programme, a student can submit an essay, poem, or drawing. The competition is for board students of three categories: Class 1 to 5 and the topic for them is 'Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel: the Iron Man'; for Class 6 to 8 students, the topic is 'Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's role in Indian freedom struggle', and for students of Class 9 and 10, the topic is 'Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel: the architect of united India'.
According to the circular best 36 entries will be given a prize of Rs 2,500 and each student will get merit and participation certificate. The students can participate through their schools and can also send their entries online through the official website. Earlier, the CBSE had announced expression series on Jai Prakash Narayan and former President A.P.J Abdul Kalam on their birth anniversary. The results for both the series have been announced and is available on the official website of the CBSE.
