India and Australia to Strengthen Education Relationship

The Australia Capital Territory's (ACT) Education Minister Joy Burch is set to visit the states of Kerala and Gujarat this week, as it was reported on Friday. This visit is likely to improve education relationship between education institutions in India and Australia stronger.

The Australia minister's visit is aimed at promoting the ACT's vocational training institutions in India, ABC reported.

Burch will be joined by Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT) Chief Executive Leanne Cover to meet with a technology company, education ministers of India and training institutions to discuss partnership opportunities. As part of the visit, a MoU will be signed by India government officials and CIT to train Indian students in spatial information, surveying and forensic science.

The Australia minister also said that there was a significant number of students from India coming to Canberra to study and some of education courses could be delivered to them closer to home. "Now's the time to support their emerging status as an economic superpower and actually meet their needs locally with these fabulous partnerships with our vocational education sector," she said.

Accompanied by a growing economy and strong skilled workforce developing in India, Burch said there were a range of opportunities available for training facilities in the ACT to take part in delivering high-quality vocational training. The Australia Minister added that the Indian and Australia partnership would allow training to be delivered more effectively.
