As scheduled, the second phase of counselling for admission to MBBS and BDS courses available in government and self-financing medical and dental colleges in tamil nadu ended on saturday.
On the first day of the second leg of counselling which commenced on Wednesday, out of seven MBBS seats that were available in government medical colleges, four MBBS seats were selected by the candidates. The three MBBS seats remained vacant were in Tirunelveli ,Sivagangai and Thoothukudi colleges. Only one seat remained vacant-in the Tirunelveli Medical College on Friday.
Out of the 109 MBBS seats in self-financing colleges, 57 MBBS seats were selected by the candiates and 52 were remaining. On Friday, only four seats were left, two in the Tagore Medical College and Hospital in Chennai and one each in Velammal MCH, Madurai, and Karpagam Faculty of Medical Sciences in Coimbatore.
Out of the 25 BDS seats in Government Dental College, 15 BDS seats were taken by the candidates and 10 BDS seats were remaining vacant. On Friday, only one seat remained vacant, in the Tamilnadu Government Dental College in Chennai. On the self-financing dental colleges, only 9 of the total 912 BDS seats were already selected by candidates. 357 BDS seats in self-financing colleges were vacant on the same day. Candiates who had secured admissions in these private colleges did not belong to the OC category.
