Students studying Ph.D in Delhi University will now have six and half years to complete their research while the earlier completion time of four years and the students has to pass the entrance test for admission to the Ph.D.
The students of Delhi University studying Ph.D are getting a good news regarding the duration of Ph.D. According to the UGC Regulation 2009 (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of Ph.D degree), the students will now get a duration of six and a half years to finish their research against the earlier deadline of four years.
Earlier, the students of Delhi University was getting only four years and there was a chance for an extension of just six months.
The Ph.D course will now also have an entrance test for its admission. While the admission process for Ph.D programmes varies in each department, it is now mandatory to enrollinf the students only by writting the test. But the terms for pursuing the couse will still be different for students with JRF and M.Phil Degree.
Under the new amendments, the students of Delhi university will have to submit a thesis of thier research works to the University Grants Commission within 30 days of finishing the evaluation procedure. The Ph.D students also have to make a pre-Ph.D submission for securing feedback and comments about their research process.
Students pursuing Ph.D in Delhi University should publish at least one research paper in a refereed journal before the presentation of their thesis and also have to produce a proof in the form of an acceptance letter or a reprint at the time of presentation.
