Indian Institute of Forest Management (IIFM) has signed UP a Memorandum of understanding with International Paper, to set up a Center of Excellence (CoE) at IIFM Bhopal to focus on research, capacity building and academic exchange between their experts.
"The MoU will further their mutual interest in the field of forest sustainability," Secretary Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change, Ashok Lavasa said.
This CoE will be established to facilitate several activities including applied research in the field of forestry, fiber sustainability and forestry management by sharing best practices, case studies and knowledge.
This MoU will focus on fields such as forestry, fiber sustainability, supply chain management, safety in forestry and paper industry, dependence of vulnerable communities on natural ecosystems for livelihood and subsistence, economic valuation of services provided by natural ecosystems, gender issues amongst other issues to be facilitated through CoE.
The collaboration between the two organizations also covers training and capacity building for students, researchers and professionals of IIFM.
