Over 23 candidates have secured the highest cut-off mark of 200/200 in Tamil Nadu Engineering Rank List. They will be in the first batch to take part in the counselling which will begin on July 1. On Monday, the university issued random numbers to all the 1,54, 238 candidates who had applied for the single-window counselling in May.
Only 1,50,950 candidates were eligible for the counselling process, said Rhymend Uthariraraj, secretary, Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions. Last year, 1.7lakh students were eligible for the counselling. When asked about the reasons for rejecting more than 3,000 applications, Anna University officials said that the scrutinizing system should have found errors in the application or there might be a discrepancy in the eligibility criteria.
