Commerce Course remains the popular choice

This year the Science and Arts streams have seen an increasing number of takers among the top high scorers, even though Commerce remained the most popular choice with high scorers. On Tuesday, June 16, the first merit list was put up for admission to degree colleges. The cut-off for Science has increased by almost 8 percent, 4 percent for Arts and has crossed the 90 percent mark at the Ramnarain Ruia College which is probably for the first time in recent years.

The admissions to the Art courses in the first list closed at 87 percent at the KC College as compared to the last year's 80 percent. In the top colleges the rise across courses was up to 8 percent.The seats for the FYBA closed at 97.8 percent for the students from the boards and for HSC students the cut-off was 92.15 percent at St Xavier's College which is a rise from the last year's 91 percent. At the college, the Science admissions closed at 94 percent for the non-biological subjects and 91 percent for the Biological subjects.

Cut-offs of BMS and BMM also saw an increase at most top colleges for students from Art and Science.The cut-off for Science in BMM was 95.2 percent which is a jump from last year's 90 percent at the HR College. The cut-off of BMS for the Science stream students was 96.4 percent at R A Podar which was almost a percent higher as compared to last year. Similarly at HR College the cut-off for BMM and BMS for Arts Jumped to 93.8 percent and 94 percent respectively which is around 3 percent higher than last year.
