With the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) declaring results of HSc general stream, admission season will begin at MS University's biggest faculty - commerce.HSc results of Vadodara district in general stream is dismally low with just 11,240 students clearing their exams giving the pass percent at 48.78. But this does not mean that the rush for admission at Faculty of Commerce - which counts for nearly half of university's total student strength - will be less.
Every year, we admit around 5,600 students at the faculty. With HSc results being poor, we are expecting the number of applicants to be lesser compared to last few years. We will however ensure that all the eligible candidates in the city get admission," said professor Sharad Bansal, dean of MSU Commerce dept. The online registration for admission in BCom regular and honors programme will begin from Monday. Admissions for both the courses will be based on merit. The merit list for admissions will be prepared after two weeks and spot admissions will be offered depending on the same.
"We have made all arrangements to ensure a smooth admission process MSU Commerce Deptartment. This year, we have also set up a help desk at the faculty to assist students with online registrations. Our objective is to complete the admission process by end of June in order to begin the classes in July," said Bansal.
In BCom (honours) which the faculty has started from last year as higher payment programme, the eligibility is similar to that of BCom (regular) at 50%. The faculty has intake capacity of 180 seats in honors programme. The faculty MSU Commerce Deptartment has already completed the process for admission in BBA programme where it offers 180 seats including 100 on regular payment, 40 on higher payment and 40 under special payment category.
