On the first day of the admission process at the Delhi University, there were 37,850 online registrations till 5 pm. Of these, 8,791 also paid online. University authorities haven't sliced the data category-wise but are very pleased about having delivered a glitch-free service this time. This was also the first time that no crowd or lines were visible at colleges. Offline registration begins on June 5.
However, sports and extracurricular activity (ECA) quota forms were meant to be available from Thursday but weren't at several colleges. Some colleges had their forms online whereas a few, like Hindu, had not made the ECA forms obtainable as yet. Very few colleges, including Miranda House and SGTB Khalsa, were giving offline ECA forms to applicants. About 20 students reached St Stephen's College in order to apply through Sports/ ECA quota but the college has made sports quota forms available online and has no quota for students who excel in co-curricular activities. Similarly the students who reached Kirori Mal College during morning hours too faced disappointment, for the college made the ECA forms available only after 2:00pm.
Some students were upset at their dream college not having a quota for the sport they excel in. Gopal Kishan, a skilled cricketer says, "I was hoping to get through Ramjas by sports quota but they don't have seats for cricketers this year".There was also confusion about which college has allotted sports quota seats for which sport. This particular question was not addressed in the 'Open Day' session held at Arts Faculty. Students ended up going to more colleges than they had planned just to find out if the college had seats for their sport at all. For instance, hockey-player Kritika Jha and judoist Yashika Arora were hoping for admission at Hindu but were disappointed to discover that the college doesn't have women's teams for either of these sports.
