Harda girl Jyoti Vishnoi from Saraswati Vidya Mandir Higher Secondary School achieved first rank in Class 12th state merit by scoring 488 marks out of 500 (97.6%) in the higher secondary school examinations, organized by MP Board of Secondary Education (MPBSE). Results were announced on Sunday. The second rank is achieved by Ankit Chouhan of Sehore district with 486 marks (97.2%). Both are students of science-maths group.
Apart from bagging top positions in merit for class 12, girls outperformed boys with an overall pass percentage of 69.42% compared to 63.3% by boys. From the merit list issued by MPBSE, as many as 61 girls made it to the merit list of class 12 students in science-maths, science-biology, humanities, commerce, agriculture and fine arts-home science groups, which has 109 students. That is almost 56% of total merit students.
Out of 53 students, who figured in top 10 of class 12 merit list of science-maths, ten are from Morena district. Except Indore, students of Bhopal, Jabalpur and Gwalior made it to top 10 of science-maths and science -biology merit list. Shajapur district student’s tops humanities stream with five out of 15 students in merit list. Also, Indore had a lone student in the merit list who topped in the commerce group.
While talking about the stagnancy of results for last three years, he said, "Right to Education Act (RTE) is to be blamed. We will endeavour for improvement for results next year." Out of a total of 7,52,596 regular and private students, who appeared for class 12 exams this year, results of 7,50,270 students were declared. Results of 1328 regular students and 968 private students have been withheld and would be declared later. Nearly, 1,97,807 students (34.2%) regular students in higher secondary exams received first division marks.
