All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) decided to commence its approval procedures for the coming academic year with in few days.
There was confusion in this, who will grant to Engineering Colleges had put students in a fix last year. The Supreme Court initially debarred AICTE from regulating technical Institutions in the coutry.
Now, later Supreme Court restores the power to AICTE so, now AICTE commences its process.
SS. Mantha the chairman of AICTE said, “The court has extended its permission allowing AICTE to grant approval to technical education Institutions in the country by one more year. The council will start the approval process for 2015-16 academic year in another ten days”.
Last year the Supreme Court first debarred All India Council of Technical Education from regulating technical Institutions in the country. Subsequently University Grants Commission (UGC) took control and issue guidelines and also banned new intuitions and restricted increasing intake of students. But in May 10, Supreme Court restored the power to AICTE.
Normally AICTE used to starts its approval process in December for the next academic session. AICTE will accept applications till the end of December and they will be processed between January and March.
T.D.Eswara Murthy Joint Secretary of the Association of Management, Coimbatore Anna University Affiliated colleges confirmed that the approval process is to start. It is also informed by him that the Ministry of Human Resource Development has already constituted a Committee headed by former secretary M.K. Karve to review AICTE functioning.
