The birth day of Mathematical Genius is celebrated as Mathematics Day. The function focused on this is celebrated on behalf of Tamil Nadu Science and Technology at Birla Planetarium. The students who excelled in Mathematical talent examinations were awarded with prizes. The Director of Government examinations of Tamil Nadu Government participated in this function as special guest. Devaraj said that the more students are taking up Medicine and Science subjects and the students would apt for science and Maths subjects to show their individuality. He also said that Government is offering financial aids to study science and Maths subjects. He also said that more job opportunities are available in government science Centre. 4000 students were participated in the state leel Mathematical competition on Dec 7th, 2014. Certificates and prizes were distributed for 205 candidates who won in this competition.
L.L.Padmaja an alternatively talented child won in this competition second time.
The president of the function and the Executive Director Dr. Iyemperumal said the Birla Planetarium has planned many exhibition and show rooms to create science awareness. He said, to begin with, a recollect Launching base would be formed at a cost of 60 lacs. This will educate the students the methodologies of launching of rockets. He also explained about the proposal of the exhibition for demonstrating Atomic Radiation at a cost of the 2.3 crores.
