Doctors, Please!

One of the important personalities like Teachers, saints to whom the people are supposed to fully depend without not even a simple suspicion are that of Doctors. People expect Doctors to behave divinely. It is natural that Doctor must take with maximum possible care while treating their patients, irrespective of their social background Errors, committed by Doctors will become irreparable and costly.

United States of America analyzed in a study, that Medical Errors cause the third highest number of deaths after heart problems.

What is the reason for Medical Errors committed by Doctors? Dr. Bala Ramachandran the Medical Director of Kanchi Kamakodi Child Trust, Hospital (Chennai) said that most of the errors are committed by Medical practioners due to over burden in the work.

He also suggested solutions to rectify this serious issue. He said that the Medical Errors can be avoided by engaging sufficient staff, creating healthy and clean atmosphere, good safely at all level and creating well lit places most of the mistakes are happening by the failure of the systems.

According to the American study regarding the serious Medical Errors committed by Doctors the prior job is limiting and optimizing the working hours of Medical staff and Doctors. In India, the issue is lack of number of staff and doctors. Of course, the entire study is from the data collected from USA, and not from India, the reason being reporting system is not available.

Another important, point discussed is, illegible hand writing of Doctors in the reports and prescriptions. This can simply solved by using computers, Dr.Bala Ramachandran said.
