Bar council meeting was addressed by three Supreme Court judges on Saturday in Chennai. Tamil Nadu and Puduchrry Bar council building was inaugurated on this day.

The important topic, discussed on the stage is about Indian standard in legal education. The complete disconnect or de-link between legal education and legal profession was discussed on this day by the speakers. Whatever taught and learnt in legal should in India can not be compared with the global level litigation, as said by Justice F.M.Ibrahim Kalifolla on this day. He conveyed his wishes to bring Indian law education to that of global standard.

The judge provided a four pronged strategy to improve the law profession. He said it was the duty of Behar council to enlarge the scope of legal education and improve to global level.

He referred the initiations of the private law schools, to bring forth the legal education to higher level.

He expect that the bar council should initiate to improve the quality of law studies in Indian in all college. He refereed the good works of Jindal Law schools.

He said clearly “Lawyers for Price is not good for Institution”. He referred an example of an clerk of an Advocate, who became an advocate itself by simply paying Rs.25000/- every year.

In fact, we hear of cases of law schools offering law graduation, simply for money even without attendance of the students.

He also added, that the senior lawyers should train their juniors properly and said that the Bar council should frame a system or scheme to ensure that juniors were paid Rs.5000 per month for first 2 years, after their enrollment. He also called the boycotts of advocates are “Black spot”.

The Supreme Court Judge, Justice C. Nagappan expressed his strong desire to improve to quality of Indian legal Education. He insisted that the Bar council should justify that complete knowledge as an advocate should have complete knowledge and exposure about the related subjects. He also expressed has worry that the judges and courts should not be criticized for the delay.

Justice R.Banumathi said that the colleges should improve the quality for Education besides knowledge. She felt that this is inadequate. She insisted about observation and participation of lawers. Justice sudagars’ presentation as training sessions for legal professions is National Judicial Academy was appreciated by her.

Chief Justice of Madras High court Justice sanjay Kishan Kavi conveyed his dissatisfaction about the present status fo legal education in India. He again insisted that the Bar council should take initiative to improve the quality of legal education.
