Why lack of interest for CAT?

It is seen that the number of applications for Common Admission Test (CAT) came down from 2.14 lac in 2012 to 1.97 lac this year.

The reason being the availability of more job opportunities because of increasing trend in economy.

The General trend is the students are interested to work at least for a year or two before joining in B-Schools for courses like MBA or PG programmes in Indian Institute of Managements. Besides the availability of Job opportunities, generally B-Schools do not prefer fresher for higher Management Courses but the people with work experiences. So, the students are generally planning to take up jobs and after gaining the minimum required experience want to join B- Schools.

The other common reason for the dilution in the interest to join B-Schools is, the final goal is getting a job, whatever course being done, the students may feel when that is available right now, better to take it up. By this decision, apart from work experience, the students are getting sufficient income for stabilizing themselves. The other dilemma is if the students miss the job available right now, is there any certainty getting the same job after getting the higher qualification.

At the same time, the interest to join higher Management courses still continues.
