The teachers approached Madras High court against the weightage system introduced by Tamil Nadu government for teacher’s recruitment.
The court has issued orders favouring state Government, stating that the weightage system is to provide teachers of better performance. Justices S.K.Agnihotri and M.M.Sundaresh said the policy decision of the government is by keeping in mind the public interest. The bench said the system followed by the government in quantifying the percentage of marks of TET could to not be called arbitrary as demanded by the petitioners.
It is also explained by the Judge that the earlier method was not comment and now the government has concentrated the method.
The method is described to be more rational one. In comparison with the methods adopted in states like Andrapradesh and west Bengal where less percentage of marks had been given to the marks obtained in TET, the present method followed in Tamil Nadu is appreciate.
