Civil Service Preliminary Examination

Recently there were protests against civil service Aptitude test of preliminary Examination. The prevailing controversy is about the pattern of civil service preliminary examination. In spite of this, the examination went on peaceful on 24.8.2014. Mr. Ashimkhan, the secretary of union Public service commission said that there were no reports of protests in any part of the country. The examination was well co-ordinate by UPSC officials.

More than 4.5 lac students wrote this examination In fact 4,51,602 candidates wrote this examination, and this figure is about 1.27 be more than the last year.

A total of 9,44,926 candidates applied for this examination and 6,80,455 candidates downloaded their admit cards.

Some candidate found the question paper was very easy while some other found it was difficult and this then is mixed restores. Some candidates first that both General studies and Aptitude papers were difficult, in compassion with last year. They felt that the Aptitude paper logical and reasoning questions were complicated. The thing is they felt; most of the Mathematics questions were based on mathematical awareness. They said, that there was less number of Decision making questions. Even some candidates said, they have no time to complete the paper.

Some said that the paper was easy since the questions for 15 marks were exempted by recent notification of UPSC as a result of continued opposition. It is observed, that language comprehension for which Hindi translation had not been given. According to the available information, that only 30,000 candidates wrote the examination while 61000 has applied in Chennai. In Madurai in Tamil Nadu, more than 50% candidates were observed themselves for the examination.

In South India, only two centres namely Hyderabad and Chennai were allotted as centres for alternately talented candidates. Out of total candidates applied, 309 candidates are blind, and the centre is only in a Govt. Higher secondary school, in Kodambakkam in Chennai. The candidates from other states found this as a difficult task and only 88 candidates appeard in the examination. An additional time of 40 minutes was given to blind candidates to complete the examination.
