Indian Institute of Technology would take quality technical Education to students in Government and private Engineering colleges in the country, for which, they framed the concept of quality Enhancement in Engineering Education (Q-EEE) program. To achieve this IIT Madras has joined hands with confederation of Indian Industries (CII). In this procedure, the lectures by IIT professors will be telecasted to colleges through broadband internet and the so called direct to home telecast (DTH). This will contain important supplemental e-learning programme building on the idea of peer learning through pre planned informal study circle. Inter active e-books, comes with the text, images, graphics, videos, audios, reference links, illustrators and presentations with also be provided in this programme.
What is the need of this programme?
Prof. Ashok Jhunjtun Wala, professor at IIT madras and the chairman of HRD ministry’s Q-EEE programmes, said that the country had done only very little to develop quality of technical education. That is the reason the Human Resource Development Ministry is implementing this programme.
The committee meant for enhancing the quality of education proposed three areas of concentration like direct to students, teacher training and policy changes.
Prof Bhaskar Ramamurthi, the Director of IIT Madras said, that the programme would certain 12 live courses; one tutorial and one massive open on line (MOOL) course to, over 100 engineering colleges in India. The lectures can be interacted by the students directly by technology. The lectures would be delivered live from IIT Madras studies to all class rooms simultaneously through infrastructure exclusively designed and set up for this specific programmes the areas which receive immediate focus to this are Information Technology, software, electronic products, telecommunicates, automotive, chemicals, aero space and defence.
