There are agitations in North India, Claiming for charges in civil service Preliminary Examinations conducted by Union Public service commission to select candidates for IAS, IPS like services. The preliminary Examination is conducted in two stages viz..
1) General Awareness – Paper I and
2) Civil service Aptitude test – paper II.
As a response to agitation against CSAT (Civil Service Aptitude Test). The Union Government said on Monday the English comprehension skills components of Paper II in the civil service preliminary Examination should not be considered for deciding grade or merit. The Government also granted an additional attempt to those who took CSAT in 2011 in the civil service Examinations 2015.
This was proposed as Government opinion as stated by Minister of state for Personnel Jiitender singh in Lok sabha.
Some members insisted to totally avoid CSAT. According to the reliable sources, the Government has taken this stand after consulting the representatives of UPSC and the exclusive three member committee set up to review the pattern of the examination. The firm regulations are expected still. Rajya Sabha was adjourned in this issue since the members demanded time bound solution. Shrad Yadev (JY-u) raised this in the zero hour and submitted the privilege notice against Mr. Singh. The clear direction including the date of the examination is expected from the government side. Parliamentary Affairs Prakash Javadekar said that matter will be sorted out and the information will be given at an earlier time. It is reported the agitation are still continued.
