Minister of Human Resources development Smriti Irani announced in Rajya sabha about the proposal of New Education Policy (NEP). She said this is because of poor qualify, and lack of involvement in research and development in the present Educational system.
The National Policy on Education was formulated in 1986 and it was amended in 1992. The National system of Education is provided to all the students without any partiliary of caste, creed place of living, male or female. The common structure followed is 10+2+3 till under graduation level.
It is felt that the present level of Education is not sufficient to tackle the challenges of present scenario in Education and related sector. The structure of 10+2+3 is adopted in most parts of the country. According to the Minister, in the last 20 years, the Indian Education Scenario undergone many changes with respect to right based approach to elementary education, the endeavor to extend universalization to secondary Education, restructuring of higher education and various changes appeared in other environments including skill developments. She also pointed out the impact on the innovation environment and providing importance to skill development through vocational education in the context of the emergence of new technologies in today's rapidly expanding economy in global environment.
