The list of waiting list of UG and PG candidates in Tamil Nadu for various disciplines is alarming and invites the serious concern of the Government policy makers. The waiting list in UG shows pot together 18,05,108 and in that of PG in 613030. In arts 3,99,743 UG’s and in that PG the number shows 78,630. 1,71,235 UG and 159789 are in the waiting list, in Engineering branch 3790 UGs and 850 PG’s are in the waiting list in Agriculture.
The list shows 2937 in UG and 267 in PG in Law branch. 5,37,558 science UG candidates and 89742 PG candidates are in the waiting list of science discipline.
3,78,328 UG teachers and 2,50,840 PG teacher are in the waiting list in teachers discipline. 8,515 UG and 70% PG medicines are still in the waiting list as on date. 3,790 UG and 850 PG Agriculturists are waiting in Employment exchange. 988 UG and 135 PG veterinary qualified candidates are in waiting list. This is the position among the candidates who have registered in Employment Exchange.
According to employment exchange figures 84.79 lac job seekers, including 43.23 lac women have registered for jobs in the state as on March’31. The worrying fact is, among the PG’s awaiting jobs, engineering professionals are high in numbers than post Graduate in arts, science and commerce streams. Vice chancellor E. Balagrusamy stated, to sort out this issue a clear man power planning is necessary. He also explained about the 4 levels of Engineering like IIT, diploma, UG (BE, B.Tech), PG (ME, M.Tech) and, he insisted the need for assessing the requirement in these areas.
