It is planned by the new Government in India to form Indian Institute of Managements in every state.
Smriti Irani, the HRD minister has listed already the infra structure requirements for new IIT’s. She had discussions with secretaries on June 17.
It is planned to have budget plans for spending on Technical Education in the next budget session. On an average to get an IIT Rs.1750 crore is needed and for establishing an IIM and central University Rs.1000 crore is needed. Cost of land is not included in this and the respective state Government should procure land and hand over it to the centre.
There are 16 IIT’s In India and with in next few years. J & K, Haryana, Seemandra, Goa, Karnataka, kerela, chathisgarh and N.E state will have IIt’s. It seems of there will be IIT in each N.E. state or these states are combined together.
The 16 functioning IIT’s are in Mumbai, Delhi, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Chennai, Guwahati, Roorkee, Jodhpur, Gandhinagar, Indore, Mondi and Varanasi.
New IITs are planned in, J & K, Goa, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Maharashtra, Seemandra, Telungana, Delhi, Orissa and North Eastern states other than Meghalaya
There are 13 IIMs now in Ahmadabad, Kolkata, Bangalore, Lucknow, Indore, Kozhikode, shilling, Rohtak, Raipur, Ranchi, Trichi, Kashipur, and Udaipur.
